Predator Posing As Teen To Target 14-Year-Old Girl Admits To Sexually Abusing Her In VA Hotel

A North Carolina man who posed as a teen boy to coerce a 14-year-old girl he met on Instagram admitted to traveling to a Virginia hotel to have sex with her, federal authorities announced.

Rayvon Birden is expected to spend years in prison for preying on the 14-year-old girl.

Raleigh native Rayvon Birden, 26, pleaded guilty this week to preying on the minor through social media while representing himself as a 16-year-old named "Nolan."

According to court documents, Birden contacted the girl through a Direct Message on Instagram, and the pair exchanged phone numbers, communicating regularly through texts and FaceTime calls.

During those conversations, prosecutors say that Birden masturbated in front of the teen, and at least once, asked - and received - nude photos of the girl through a text message.

Birden later crossed state lines, driving from his North Carolina home to meet the girl at a hotel near her Virginia home, where they had sex several times, at least one of which was filmed by the predator.

He pleaded guilty to traveling in interstate commerce for the purpose of engaging in sexually illicit conduct.

As part of that plea, Birden is expected to be sentenced to between 78 and 120 months in prison, and will be required to register as a convicted sex offender when he is released.
